LINDSAY'S STORY

In March 1998, Lindsay and her best friend, Sam, were playing on a massive log that was high above the surf line on the beach in Florence. Without warning, a freak wave rolled the log over the two children and then rolled it back again. Lindsay suffered a crushed pelvis, but, tragically, Sam was killed. Rushed to Florence's Peace Harbor Hospital, Lindsay received two units of red blood cells to help stabilize her. She was then transferred to Eugene's Sacred Heart Medical Center where, after many weeks of complete bed rest, she started to get around in a wheelchair and on crutches.

Lindsay made a complete recovery and is now a student at Briggs Middle School in Springfield.
